About SafeForest

What is SafeForest?

SafeForest® is an automatic early fire detection and alert system developed by LEITEK. It combines AI detection cameras — visible light and near-infrared — with infrared thermography and multimodal IoT ground sensors to catch ignitions at minute one and deliver geolocated alerts in seconds, protecting forests, cities, solar farms, warehouses, condominiums and residences.

How early can SafeForest detect a fire?

At the very first signs. The UHD optical cameras detect smoke at distances beyond 15 km, and the thermal cameras sense the heat of the ignition itself — a 2 m² fire from 5 km away. Alerts arrive seconds after the first smoke, while the fire is still controllable.

Does SafeForest work at night and in low visibility?

Yes — SafeForest watches 24/7, day and night. The optical cameras combine visible light and near-infrared to see through haze, and the thermal cameras detect heat signatures regardless of lighting conditions, keeping detection range and precision at night and in low visibility.

What happens when a fire is detected?

Detect → Verify → Alert. Seconds after detection, a geolocated alert — with the fire's coordinates, a confidence score and the azimuth — appears in the SafeForest®-Guardian command-and-control software and in the mobile app. The operator takes control of the cameras to confirm and monitor the fire, and the optional IMFire console simulates how it will spread.

Where can SafeForest be deployed?

Anywhere at risk of fire: forests and rural areas, warehouses and building interiors, smart cities, solar farms, condominiums and resorts, and private residences. The system is modular and scalable — it grows one camera and one site at a time, from a single property to hundreds of square kilometres.

Can SafeForest use cameras I already have?

Yes. SafeForest®-Cloud is a Software-as-a-Service platform that brings the same AI detection — smoke, fire, people and vehicles — to any surveillance IP camera, with processing in the cloud and no dedicated hardware.

Systems and technology

What is the difference between SafeForest, Duo, Shield and Helios?

Every system is built around the same core — a fire detection camera and an AI processing unit, on site or in the cloud. SafeForest® is the base: UHD optical cameras with edge processing. Duo adds an infrared thermal camera in the same PTZ unit. Shield adds a network of multimodal IoT ground sensors. Helios applies the same detection to infrastructure, buildings and indoor spaces — and Helios PV is its version for large solar parks.

How does SafeForest avoid false alarms?

With algorithms trained for each scenario and multimodal confirmation: in Shield systems, ground IoT sensors detect the smoke and gases typical of forest fires and confirm what the cameras see, significantly reducing false alarms. Every alert carries a confidence score, and the operator can take control of the cameras in SafeForest®-Guardian to verify it visually.

What infrastructure does a SafeForest system need?

Very little. The SafeForest® AI-Motor is an outdoor edge unit that processes everything on site — no bulky cabinets, no additional infrastructure. Where edge hardware isn't wanted, processing can run on-premises or in the cloud: SafeForest®-Cloud works with any surveillance IP camera, with no dedicated hardware.

Can SafeForest predict where a fire will spread?

Yes — with the optional IMFire console. For every ignition it simulates fire spread over real terrain, wind and weather, drawing time-of-arrival perimeters on satellite maps, so commanders can position crews where the fire will be, not where it was.
